Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning Assistants (TLA) play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional development of learners. Your responsibilities are diverse and essential for creating an effective environment focused on learning and growth.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping, not only, the educational experiences of our learners, but also the teaching, learning and collaborative culture of our school. Your responsibilities align with our commitment to redefine teaching and learning and our need to be innovative in our approach, process and application.

You will work collaboratively with all members of the learning community while keeping the leaners growth and development at the forefront of what you do.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Support:

  • Support the lead educator in delivering learning experiences by helping to prepare materials, setting up equipment, and managing classroom resources.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to learners who may need extra help with their learning, ensuring that all learners can access and engage.

Student Engagement:

  • Motivate learners to engage in classroom experiences and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Observe and track learner progress, providing feedback to lead educators about individual learner needs and their achievements.

Learning Environment Management:

  • Help maintain a calm and orderly learning environment by implementing strategies as directed by the lead educator.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts among learners and support them in developing social skills.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with maintaining learning records, including attendance, assessment results, and reports.
  • Help prepare teaching materials and resources for learning, ensuring that everything is ready for effective instruction.


Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Be vigilant about the safety and well-being of learners, recognizing signs of distress or abuse, and reporting concerns to the designated safeguarding lead (DSL).
  • Contribute to creating a safe and supportive learning environment where learners feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with teaching team and other staff members to plan lessons and share insights about learner progress.
  • Occasionally assist in communicating with parents regarding their child's progress or any concerns that may arise.

Continuous Professional Development:

Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to teaching practices, child development, and safeguarding protocols.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Diploma holder or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Counselling, Psychology or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience within a school setting
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Familiarity with cognitive science-based teaching and learning an advantage.
  • Passionate about helping students to learn and grow.
  • Able to make decisions in the best interests of children.
  • Sound EQ, empathy and a strong understanding of self.
  • Excited about working collaboratively in a learning-focused team.
  • Possess a learning and growth mindset.
  • Internationally minded and accepting of all people regardless of age, gender, sexual persuasion, culture or language.
  • Creative and innovative in ideas and outlook.
  • Sense of humor.
  • Adaptable and flexible to the needs of colleagues, students, school and self.
