About the Role:

Cognita, in partnership with Brighton College (Singapore), is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Geography to support the school from October 2026 to March 2027 for a maternity cover assignment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the Senior School's Geography and Humanities provision as Brighton College (Singapore) grows from a first-class Prep School into one of the region's leading all-through schools, offering education from Pre-Nursery to Year 13.

About the Role:

The Teacher of Geography will play a key role in delivering high-quality Gepgraphy and humanities lessons

across Key Stages3–5, including preparation for the first Year 11 IGCSE Geography cohort and the introduction of A-

levels commencing in August 2026.

The successful candidate will ensure that all lessons are

intellectually stimulating, analytically rigorous and aligned with the school's commitment to

fostering curiosity, independent thought and academic excellence.

Beyond the classroom, the Teacher of Geography will help cultivate a vibrant culture of debate,

inquiry and global awareness throughout the school. They will contribute to a variety of

humanities-related co-curricular opportunities, such as model government and debating societies,

essay competitions and enrichment projects, inspiring pupils to explore complex ideas and engage

critically with the world around them. Through their role, the Teacher of Geography will make a

significant contribution to the continued academic growth and success of Brighton College

(Singapore), preparing pupils to become informed, thoughtful and active global citizens.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver high-quality Geography lessons in the IGCSE and A levels, and Humanities across the Senior School, ensuring all pupils are engaged, challenged and supported to make excellent progress.
  • Take responsibility for the teaching, progress and attainment of timetabled pupils in Years 7 to 12 from August 2026, extending this responsibility to Year 13 as the school grows.
  • Teach and support pupils preparing for IGCSE Geography (starting with the new Year 11 cohort in August 2026), A-levels (starting with the new Year 12 cohort in August 2026).
  • Provide academic guidance for Sixth Form pupils interested in pursuing Geography or related degrees at leading universities.
  • Contribute to a rich and varied co-curricular Humanities programme, offering opportunities for pupils to extend their understanding of global issues through debating, Model United Nations, essay competitions and enrichment activities.
  • Support and help organise academic events, competitions and trips related Geography
  • Contribute to the assessment, tracking and reporting of pupil progress in Politics and History, ensuring accurate, constructive and timely feedback is provided.
  • Demonstrate the experience and ability to teach Geography effectively at Key Stage 5, and Humanties across Key Stages 3–5, adapting lessons to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.
  • Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, modelling excellent teaching, intellectual curiosity and high expectations in both subjects.
  • Promote excellence, critical thinking and a love of enquiry in all areas of the Geography curriculum
  • Work closely with the Head of Humanities/Deputy Head Academic, and the Heads of EAL and AEN, to develop tailored pathways for pupils requiring additional support.
  • Contribute to the school's pastoral system and act as a tutor for a Senior School year group.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties in support of the school's mission, values, and co-curricular programmes.

Who we are looking for:

  • Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering Geography GCSEs/IGCSEs.
  • International experience (preferred but not essential).
  • Exemplifies the Brighton College (Singapore) values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
  • An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography or Humanities, with PGCE or equivalent.
