Job Description

Dover Court International School is looking to recruit a Teacher Librarian to start in August 2026.

The purpose of the role is to develop the Secondary library provision and programmes, along with the vision for the Secondary library with the Secondary School Leadership Team. Enhance reading resources and access to research for Secondary School students with a specific focus on developing Sixth Form provision. Audit resources, investigate, cost and submit proposals for online resources for students in liaison with Heads of Faculty and the Sixth Form team. Contribute to the development of IB ATLs, specifically planning and teaching research skills, academic integrity, digital citizenship and literacy Yr 7-13 in collaboration with faculty. Provide support to the Sixth Form team by contributing to programming, the Extended Essay, university and further education planning and guidance and the core. Teach/contribute to aspects of the IB core as agreed (TOK, CAS).

Areas of Responsibility:

Key Tasks

. Leadership and management of the Secondary library, developing efficient systems, procedures and policies.

. Develop the Secondary library area as a positive, flexible, multi-functional safe space, which prioritises learning for students.

. Organising and cataloguing of existing resources using established systems.

. Auditing of resources and management of the Secondary library budget allocation.

. Developing a broad range of inclusive library resources (print and digital) which reflect our international, inter-cultural community, supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.

. Regularly refresh and promote library resources to create interest and demand.

. Specifically focus on supporting Sixth Form learning programmes increasing access to a variety of appropriate resources.

. Lead the Sixth Form Extended Essay training, process and submission working with teachers and students.

. Develop and lead programming for ATL development specifically research skills and academic integrity from Year 7 to 13.

. As a member of the Sixth Form Team, contribute to guidance and careers planning, the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS.

. Assist students in sourcing, selecting and critically evaluating sources of information.

. Attend Head of Faculty and Sixth Form team meetings.

. Participate in the development of digital technologies and digital citizenship programmes.

. Contribute to displays, events, school news which promotes literacy.

. Build effective links and networks with further education in Singapore to develop provision for Sixth Form.

. Contribute to the school CCA programme.

. Student supervision duties as directed to support student safeguarding

. Support the smooth running of the secondary school.

. Appropriate teaching load in specialist teaching area

. Provide support for access arrangements to the examination team during external examination sessions.

Communication

. Create clear and concise information for teachers and students on library vision, services and operation.

. Ensure that all stakeholders are aware of library access for Secondary students.

. Maintain regular and informative communication with teaching staff and leadership in developing provision and supporting teachers and learners.

. Effectively communicate with parents regarding library related matters.

Organisation & Compliance

. Utilise the library catalogue system.

. Develop efficient administration to support teachers and students.

. Maintain accurate records, assisting in developing the Secondary School Team and SharePoint.

. Follow Health and Safety emergency procedures, be aware of students accessing the library with specific learning/medical needs.
