Job Description

Working Hour

  • Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • Fridays: 7:30am to 4pm

Key Roles

1. Upkeep & Preparation of Learning Resources

The Personnel shall be responsible for the following in the Science Room, Mathematics Room, and Tinkering Corner (excluding IT equipment):

  • Maintain and prepare teaching and learning resources (e.g., books, consumables, science specimens, math manipulatives).

  • Ensure all materials are properly stored, maintained, and readily available for use when needed.

  • Oversee general décor, safety, and cleanliness of the three designated rooms.

  • Be familiar with available resources and advise teachers and students on their locations and proper use.

  • Maintain records of loans or check-outs of equipment and materials, and collect returns where applicable.

  • Document any damage, breakage, or faulty equipment.

  • Keep a log of servicing dates and flag when servicing is required.

2. Support for School Programmes

  • Assist in lesson preparation and conduct, including practical tests (e.g., Science Practical Tests) as required.

  • Support hydroponics and gardening programmes, including plant maintenance, purchase of gardening materials, and assisting teachers during student gardening sessions.

  • Provide support for school learning events, such as the Tinkerlution Programme, supplementary lessons, and enrichment workshops.

3. Safety Management

  • Contribute to general safety in the Science Room, Mathematics Room, and Tinkering Corner, including:

    • Ensuring equipment complies with relevant safety handbooks (e.g., Science Safety Handbook for chemical labelling and storage of flammable materials).

    • Being familiar with emergency standard operating procedures.

  • Participate in safety audits.

4. Stock Taking

  • Conduct stocktaking twice a year for all resources in the assigned rooms, including books, consumables, dataloggers, microscopes, apparatus, displays, specimens, models, and manipulatives.

  • Maintain updated stock records for each room.

  • Identify equipment that is due for condemnation or retirement.

5. Other Duties

  • Perform any additional tasks as directed by School Leaders and Heads of Departments.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The Personnel shall minimally possess the following:

  • GCE N Levels or equivalent
  • Proficient in word processing and Microsoft Excel
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (preferred)
