Chartering

  • Act as the focal point for all tanker chartering activities, working closely with traders to structure and execute cargo coverage.
  • Negotiate charter parties (both time charter and voyage charter) in line with trading requirements and company policies.
  • Monitor the freight market on an ongoing basis and produce weekly market reports for the trading desk.
  • Research new ports and loading/discharging regions, providing traders with actionable intelligence to support market entry.

Post-Fixture Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of DPP/CPP vessels across the barrel, covering both time charter and voyage charter fixtures.
  • Issue voyage instructions toMasters and coordinate all pre-voyage logistics, including:
  1. Bunker supply arrangements
  2. Stowage planning
  3. Agency appointments at load and discharge ports
  4. P&I coverage arrangements
  • Arrange weather routing services and monitor vessel performance manage underperformance claims where required.

Finance & Reporting

  • Prepare and issue charter hire invoices, freight invoices, and PDAs follow up on collections including freight, demurrage, and PDA settlements.
  • Prepare and distribute the monthlyProfit & Loss report for the chartering book.

Requirements:

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in tanker chartering, post-fixture operations, or a combined chartering/operations role.
  • Solid working knowledge of DPP andCPP tanker markets, including vessel types, trade flows, and freight dynamics.
  • Familiarity with charter party terms and conditions and standard voyage and time charter frameworks.
  • Understanding of P&I club coverage, port agency management, bunker procurement, and cargo stowage principles.
  • Experience handling demurrage claims, vessel performance analysis, and post-fixture dispute resolution.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate effectively under time pressure.
  • Analytical mindset, comfortable preparing P&L reports, market summaries, and voyage performance analyses.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills able to work closely with traders, counterparties, Masters, and agents.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active fixtures simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in standard shipping operations tools and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
