We are looking for a Systems Engineer to support and debug production issues in the Transaction (TXN) / POS vertical. This role is part of the Vertical Applications and Hardware Payments ecosystem, supporting in-store applications, payment devices, cashflow systems, and system accounts.
You will work closely with APAC stakeholders, local carriers, and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot POS, FSI, and transaction-related issues. This is a hands-on L1L3 production support role requiring strong technical expertise and Japanese communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Debug and resolve production issues across POS systems, TXN services, FSI, and in-store applications
- Support hardware verticals including payment devices, cashflows, and system accounts
- Perform log analysis and root cause analysis using tools like Splunk
- Troubleshoot API integrations with local carriers (e.g., device activation flows)
- Work with platform teams to resolve upstream and downstream dependencies
- Provide L1, L2, and L3 support including incident and problem management
- Communicate effectively with Japanese-speaking stakeholders via email, calls, and war rooms
- Collaborate with APAC teams across Singapore and India
- Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify repetitive operational tasks and suggest improvements
- Build or propose simple tools, scripts, or automation solutions
- Support integration of automation into daily workflows
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Production Support, or Application Support roles
- Strong experience with Java-based applications
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and debugging
- Hands-on experience with Splunk or similar log analysis tools
- Experience debugging APIs and distributed systems
- Exposure to POS systems, payment devices, or transaction platforms
- Strong understanding of system integrations and dependencies
- Experience in incident management (ITIL practices preferred)
- Japanese language proficiency (business to native level written & verbal)
- Willingness to work in Singapore business hours and support on-call rotations
