The Safety Assurance Centre (SAC) supports Land Defence Systems projects by providing system safety engineering across the full system life cycle. We are looking for a System Safety Engineer / Senior Engineer to support the implementation and assurance of system safety programmes for assigned projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of system safety programmes for assigned projects in accordance with enterprise policies, standards, and approved processes.
- Act as system safety personnel within project teams, working closely with system, software, and project engineers to ensure comprehensive safety coverage.
- Support hazard identification and safety analyses (e.g. Preliminary Hazard List, Preliminary Hazard Analysis) and assist in proposing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Populate, maintain, and track hazard logs, safety worksheets, and related records using approved templates and tools.
- Contribute to the preparation, review, and updating of system safety documentation such as System Safety Programme Plans (SSPP), Hazard Analyses (HA), Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and other safety artefacts.
- Ensure safety documentation complies with enterprise quality, formatting, and procedural requirements.
- Participate in project safety discussions, reviews, and meetings, and support internal safety reviews, audits, and key project milestones.
- Highlight and escalate potential safety concerns or anomalies in a timely manner, and support safety clearance activities with internal safety boards.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Understanding of system safety principles, terminology, and lifecycle safety considerations.
- Familiarity with system safety standards such as MILSTD882 or equivalent.
- Awareness of common hazard types, including system, hardware, software, human, and operational hazards.
- Ability to follow defined safety processes and work effectively under technical supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, safetyconscious mindset, and good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety analysis techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and FMECA is an advantage.
- Exposure to defence, transportation, industrial, or other safetycritical systems is an added advantage.
