Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of automation systems and semiconductor equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLCs, robotics systems, SCADA, vision systems, and data connectivity.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of automation equipment.
- Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs and robotic control logic for automation systems.
- Design and validate robotic structures and end effectors for automated assembly and material handling.
- Manage calibration of parts, sensors, and components to maintain accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Update and maintain engineering specifications, drawings, and documentation for sustaining projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Vendors) to implement improvements and resolve technical issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with Applied Materials standards, SEMI regulations, and EHS requirements.
- Support spare parts management and coordinate with suppliers for retrofits and technical assistance.
- Maintain a positive, proactive, and can-do attitude when addressing challenges.
Functional Knowledge
- Expert-level PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent) for automation control systems.
- Strong hands-on experience in robotics programming (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar platforms).
- Knowledge of robotic structure design, kinematics, and end effector integration for semiconductor applications.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting automation hardware and control systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial networking concepts.
- Knowledge of vision systems and automated assembly processes.
- Understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies (IoT, AI, machine learning, cyber-physical systems).
- Mechanical knowledge: assembly processes, alignment, and structural requirements for equipment installation.
- Ability to interpret and update engineering specifications and technical documentation.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for troubleshooting.
- Calibration expertise for sensors, actuators, and precision components.
Business Expertise
- Align sustaining activities with operational priorities and business goals.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify cost-saving opportunities and justify upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and customer requirements.
- Manage spare parts inventory and cost control for sustaining operations.
Leadership
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers during troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and supplier teams.
- Promote best practices in sustaining engineering and continuous improvement.

- Diagnose and resolve complex automation system issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring problems and implement corrective actions.
