Job Description

Role Purpose (Why do we need this role)

To provide temporary support to the Sustainability team during a maternity leave period, ensuring continuity of sustainability reporting, customer engagement, data assurance, and sustainability programme development activities. The role will coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of sustainability-related disclosures, training initiatives, and research projects.

Role Accountabilities (What is this role responsible for delivering)

Sustainability Data and Reporting

  • Maintain and update the database of standard responses used for customer sustainability questionnaires, ensuring information remains accurate, current, and aligned with Swire Shipping's disclosures.
  • Maintain organised records and documentation to support effective knowledge management within the Sustainability team.
  • Support sustainability reporting activities by consolidating, validating, and maintaining sustainability performance data.
  • Review, organise, and clean sustainability reporting datasets, including historical data files used for annual sustainability reporting and disclosures.
  • Organise evidence and supporting records in accordance with verification requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring consistency and data integrity across sustainability-related reports and submissions.

Stakeholder engagement and Coordination

  • Coordinate with internal data owners across departments and locations to obtain supporting documentation required for sustainability data verification and assurance processes.
  • Track, monitor, and follow up with stakeholders on document submissions to ensure timely completion of verification requirements.

Sustainability Programmes

  • Provide administrative and project coordination support for sustainability initiatives as required.
  • Support the development of the sustainability online training module, including content review, updates, and coordination with an external training provider.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations on learning materials, visual content, and communication approaches to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendor to support project delivery and milestone completion.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be assigned from time to time in support of the Sustainability team's objectives.

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research on carbon offset solutions and identify high-quality carbon credits and programmes that align with recognised market integrity standards and organisational requirements.
  • Review emerging sustainability frameworks, regulations, and industry developments relevant to the maritime sector.
  • Support gap assessments and benchmarking exercises against sustainability reporting frameworks and disclosure standards, including biodiversity and nature-related reporting requirements.
  • Assist in assessing organisational readiness for new sustainability-related regulations and requirements through desktop research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Qualifications & Skills (What knowledge will ensure success in the role)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Business, Economics, Maritime Studies, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, consulting, reporting, or a related field preferred. Relevant internship or project experience will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, validate, analyse and present sustainability-related data and performance metrics.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, standards, ratings or experience with ESG-related projects.
  • Ability to collect, validate, analyse and maintain sustainability-related data and performance metrics.
  • Ability to compile, verify and manage documentation required for internal audits, external assurance and verification exercises.
  • Ability to interpret sustainability frameworks and develop gap analysis or benchmarking assessments.

Professional Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across functions and geographic locations.
  • Confidence in engaging internal stakeholders and following up on outstanding requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ability to coordinate activities involving multiple stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Curious and enthusiastic about sustainability and emerging ESG topics.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
