Job Description

We are seeking a Sustainability Consultant (Japanese Speaking) to strengthen our consulting practice.
This position is suited for professionals with approximately 5-7 years of relevant experience who are capable of managing client assignments from initiation to completion, providing both technical expertise and commercial direction, and actively supporting revenue expansion.

In this capacity, you will serve as a strategic partner to clients, oversee full project lifecycles, ensure commercial performance, cultivate long-term relationships, and support the development of junior team members.

Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute sustainability advisory projects across multiple regions, including Japan
- Manage sustainability benchmarking and disclosure processes (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis, S&P CSA), ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, ISSB, ESRS), and climate-related services such as TCFD / ISSB S2 reporting, greenhouse gas inventories (Scope 1, 2, 3), emissions reduction strategies, transition planning, and responsible business and human rights initiatives
- Serve as the main liaison for clients, offering structured technical insight and practical strategic recommendations
- Direct project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, quality management, and overall delivery performance
- Validate and approve analytical outputs, emissions calculations, reports, and client-facing documentation
- Support revenue generation efforts by identifying new opportunities, designing tailored solutions, and preparing proposals
- Lead or contribute to engagement scoping, fee structuring, and financial performance management
- Strengthen client portfolios through account expansion and cross-functional collaboration
- Contribute to business pitches, presentations, and negotiation discussions
- Guide and mentor junior consultants, ensuring high technical standards and professional development
- Monitor regulatory updates, emerging ESG standards, and market developments, integrating them into advisory work
- Support internal capability building, methodology enhancement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Requirement

Requirements & Preferences

(Must)
- Approximately 5-7 years of relevant experience in sustainability advisory, ESG consulting, assurance services, or corporate sustainability functions
- Fluent in Japanese (JLPT N1, spoken and written) is essential, along with at least business-level English proficiency to liaise with Japanese clients, stakeholders, and writing email in Japanese.
- Practical experience in one or more of the following domains: ESG ratings and benchmarking (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis, S&P CSA), sustainability and ESG disclosures (GRI, ISSB, ESRS), climate-related reporting and risk frameworks (TCFD / ISSB S2), greenhouse gas measurement (Scope 1, 2, and 3), emissions reduction strategies, transition planning, or responsible business and human rights initiatives
- Demonstrated track record of managing client projects and interacting with senior stakeholders
- Strong quantitative analysis, report writing, and presentation capabilities, with careful attention to accuracy and detail

(Advantageous)
- Experience supervising junior team members and coordinating project delivery
- Relevant professional credentials or advanced coursework in sustainability, climate strategy, or assurance frameworks are advantageous
