Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) plays a critical role to ensure external suppliers meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements, safeguarding production from defects. Key responsibilities include conducting supplier audits, managing new product introduction (NPI) qualifications, resolving quality issues through corrective actions (CAPA). Additionally, he/she shall manage the document control centre (DCC), planning and executing the internal audit programme in the organization.

  • Supplier Qualification & Assessment: Auditing vendor facilities, evaluating capability, and approving new suppliers to ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
  • Quality Control & Inspection: Developing and managing all incoming inspection processes, reviewing manufacturing specifications, and inspecting materials to identify defects.
  • Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions: Leading investigations into supplier quality issues, implementing corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking supplier KPIs (e.g., defect rates, on-time delivery) and conducting regular business reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration: Acting as the bridge between suppliers, engineering, and procurement to improve product quality and process capability

Job Requirements

Customer support:

  • In the event of receiving a complaint or returns due to a quality defect at a customer, investigate the causes, implement measures, and contribute to an 8D reports to be submitted to the customer.
  • Aggregate process control data according to a customer request and prepare its report.
  • Additionally, compile a report on what is requested by a customer.

Process improvement:

  • Analyze defective products generated in the process and implement appropriate measures according to the causes of the defect to reduce the amount of loss to be caused by the defect.
  • Monitor process capability (Cpk, Ppk), investigate the causes for low process capability and implement measures to prevent deviation from the control standard.

Professional qualifications:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing technology or associated fields.
  • It is favorable (promising) if having experiences of similar roles in a supplier management environment at a semiconductor related manufacturer.
  • Having experiences of working as a supplier quality management role at a manufacturing plant is favorable.

Expertise and skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for document creation.
  • Certified lead auditor of quality management systems (IATF, ISO9001, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
  • A basic knowledge of environmental, health and safety (EHS) management systems
  • A basic knowledge with chemical regulations (laws, SDS, GHS).
  • A basic understanding of business continuity plans (BCP)
  • Competent in statistical analysis methods using Minitab software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to influence suppliers and internal teams.

Competency:

  • Able to listen effectively and to act appropriately in response to instructions given.
  • Able to report necessary information, such as problems and production progress, to managers.
  • Capable of making recommendations for improvement plan to reporting manager.
  • Capable of formulating a hypothesis about the factor based on the defects or defective event and making a proposal for improvement.
  • Able to grasp customer's need precisely and deploy and coordinate with relevant departments to fulfill them.

Attributes:

  • Higher interpersonal ability and communication skills are essential for working with multiple divisions and departments.
  • A cooperative personality and good attitude are preferred.

Others:

  • Normally, work the day shift on weekdays, but may be required to work on holidays as directed by your supervisor.
  • May be required to work in a clean room environment.
