In this Supplier Engineering role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing assigned suppliers. The candidate will interface with suppliers, internal AMAT stakeholders, and at times, end user customers as part of a larger problem-solving team. The Supplier Engineer will help remediate product or process failures that impact our internal manufacturing locations or end user customers.
The successful candidate should have a good understanding or working knowledge of gas/liquid delivery systems and a variety of OEM components such as MFC's, valves, and regulators. Prior knowledge on gas line/weldment manufacturing and various sealing components, e.g., O-rings and C-seals preferred. This position reports directly to the OEM Supplier Quality Manager.
Lead supplier technical audits for semiconductor gas panel assembly and related sub‑assemblies, evaluating supplier performance, manufacturing capability, and compliance to specifications.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives at supplier sites, with emphasis on gas panel assembly processes, cleanliness, build quality, and functional reliability.
Lead quality problem resolution and incident management, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions related to gas panel assembly, components, and assemblies.
Identify trends and drive broad‑based, systemic, process‑level improvements to prevent repeat issues across gas panel assembly suppliers.
Utilize enterprise quality management systems to adjudicate, document, and track quality issues, including:
Containment actions
Root cause analysis
Corrective action implementation
Corrective action verification and effectiveness
Act as the primary quality interface between gas panel assembly suppliers and internal engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Desired Skills & Experience
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of semiconductor gas panel assembly, including gas delivery systems and OEM components.
Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), including internal and external auditing, quality and risk management tools such as FMEA, and basic statistical methods.
Solid understanding of good manufacturing practices, lean principles, and process controls applicable to gas panel assembly.
Experience supporting or working within cleanroom manufacturing environments, including contamination control requirements.
Minimum of 5 years experience supporting the manufacturing of Semiconductor Capital Equipment, preferably involving gas panel assembly or chemical/gas delivery systems.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented working style.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical and quality expectations to suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Bachelors or higher degree in an Engineering discipline
