Job Description

Job Purpose

To oversee daily operations of the food and provision store, ensure smooth customer service, proper stock control, hygiene, and supervise staff to meet sales and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Operations

Supervise day-to-day running of the shop/mini-mart.

Open and close the store as per schedule, including cash handling.

Ensure shelves are well stocked, clean, and correctly labeled with prices.

Monitor expiry dates and remove damaged/expired products.

2. Staff Supervision

Assign daily duties to sales staff and cashiers.

Train new staff on product knowledge, customer service, and safety.

Monitor staff performance and discipline, report issues to management.

Prepare staff duty roster and manage attendance/overtime.

3. Customer Service

Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints politely and efficiently.

Ensure customers receive prompt service at counters and cashier points.

Promote sales, upsell products, and support store promotions.

4. Inventory & Stock Control

Check incoming deliveries and verify quantity and quality of goods.

Maintain accurate stock records and report low stock to management.

Help in stock taking and updating inventory system / stock sheets.

5. Hygiene & Safety

Ensure proper handling, storage, and display of food items (dry, chilled, frozen).

Maintain cleanliness of store, chiller, freezer, and storage areas.

Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and company SOPs.

6. Cash & Reports

Supervise cashiers and ensure accurate billing.

Check daily sales reports and cash reconciliation.

Submit daily / weekly reports to management as required.

Requirements

GCE O-Level / Higher Secondary / Diploma or equivalent (flexible based on company).

Experience in retail / supermarket / mini-mart / provision shop preferred.

Basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene.

Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Skills & Competencies

Strong supervision and leadership skills.

Good communication and customer service.

Basic computer skills and POS/cashier system knowledge.

Ability to work under pressure during peak hours.

Honest, responsible, and well-organised.
