Position Overview:We are seeking a Waste Management Supervisor to oversee the collection and sorting of metal scraps from customer locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in waste management, with the ability to identify and sort ferrous and non-ferrous metals accurately. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of working in challenging environments, such as dusty and hot conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Metal Scrap Collection: Coordinate and supervise the collection of metal scraps from customer locations, ensuring timely and efficient pickup schedules.
- Sorting and Identification: Oversee the sorting process to separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals, utilizing knowledge of metal properties and characteristics. Ability to identify metals such as aluminium, potassium, copper, zinc, and others is essential.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy of metal sorting and identification, maintaining high standards of material purity.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, providing necessary training and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards related to waste management and recycling activities.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a team of waste management personnel, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of metal scrap inventory, tracking quantities and types of materials collected and sorted.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and machinery used in the waste management process, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on operational activities, including metal scrap collection volumes, sorting accuracy, and any issues or challenges encountered.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements, implementing solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent additional education or training in waste management or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in waste management, recycling, or similar industry.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, with the ability to accurately sort and identify different metal types.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team effectively.
- Responsible and reliable, with a commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
- Ability to work in dusty and hot environments, with willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
