About the Role

We are hiring a Strategy Director to join the OM SG Strategy Community, responsible for bringing high level strategic thinking, communications development, analytics and audience planning to the business. You will be tasked with leading strategy for key clients, with the support of one direct report. You will bring strategic leadership to the clients - working closely with business leads to identify opportunities and translate them into a smart communications approach and sell. You should be an independent thinker with the confidence to develop industry-leading strategies that challenge conventional thinking. You should be confident voicing opinions with senior business leads, marketing clients and agency partner leads. You should demonstrate a keen analytical data driven approach, combined with a more intuitive culturally aware ability to create insight driven strategies.

Responsibilities

Strategic leadership on key clients

  • Lead end-to-end communications and media strategy for priority clients, both local and regional.
  • Translate client business challenges into clear strategic frameworks that guide planning, channel selection, and investment decisions.
  • Work with local market planning teams across the region to ensure strategies are consistently reflected.
  • Identify paths to growth through audience insight, market dynamics and cultural trends.
  • Partner with senior client stakeholders to provide proactive strategic counsel and thought leadership.
  • Help position the agency as a strategic partner rather than a purely executional media provider.

Agency-wide strategic excellence

  • Elevate the quality and consistency of strategic thinking across the agency.
  • Champion and embed strategic products, frameworks and tools to strengthen planning standards.
  • Guide teams in transforming data, insights, and cultural understanding into compelling strategies.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, creativity, and continuous learning within the strategy function.
  • Encourage and drive award wins through award-winning work, as well as improving submission quality.

New business & growth

  • Provide strategic leadership on key pitches by shaping narrative and direction.
  • Partner with leadership to identify proactive growth opportunities with existing clients.

Manage & mentor direct report

  • Enable growth through mentorship and opportunity exposure.
  • Provide coaching on strategic thinking, storytelling, and insight development.
  • Oversee and manage workload.

Required Experience and Capabilities

  • 10+ years in media agencies, including within a strategy & insights role.
  • A proven track record of leading strategic initiatives.
  • Strong collaboration skills – working with different client teams, agency and partner stakeholders to gain alignment around a focused strategic approach.
  • Solid understanding of the media landscape to ensure strategies are implementable.
  • Open-minded and flexible in thought and tactics.
  • Strong quantitative & qualitative analytical skills.
