We are working exclusively on behalf of a fast-growing data centre developer building out their procurement function from scratch.
This is a newly created role and the company's first strategic procurement hire, based in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading the procurement function with a specific focus on capital equipment critical to data centre operations - including generators, UPS systems, transformers, cooling infrastructure, and other mission-critical plant and equipment. The role requires someone who is both strategic and hands-on, able to design the procurement framework while simultaneously executing on active sourcing requirements across the development pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the company's strategic procurement function from scratch, establishing policies, processes, vendor frameworks, and governance structures.
- Own end-to-end procurement of capital equipment for data centre builds including generators, UPS systems, transformers, cooling infrastructure, and switchgear.
- Develop and maintain a preferred vendor and supplier panel for critical equipment categories.
- Lead commercial negotiations for major equipment contracts, securing optimal pricing, lead times, warranty terms, and service agreements.
- Work closely with Development and Engineering teams to align equipment specifications and procurement timelines with construction programmes.
- Manage long-lead item procurement to ensure on-time delivery and mitigate programme risk.
- Track procurement KPIs, spend visibility, and savings targets with regular reporting to senior leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of procurement experience with significant focus on capital equipment or critical infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of mission-critical data centre equipment categories including generators, UPS, transformers, cooling systems, and switchgear.
- Proven track record building procurement functions or category strategies from the ground up.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience leading high-value equipment negotiations and managing complex supplier contracts.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Singapore-based; regional exposure across Southeast Asia an advantage.
