Job Description

The Strategic Communications Manager leads the church's communications with clarity, excellence, and intentionality. This role partners closely with church leadership and ministry teams to ensure messaging, visuals, and channels are aligned to the church's vision-while bringing a structured, strategic communications lens shaped by corporate best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy & Leadership

. Shape and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with the church's vision and ministry priorities

. Provide strategic communications perspectives in leadership and planning discussions

. Translate ministry objectives into clear, audience-appropriate messaging

Team & Capability Building

. Lead 1 direct report and coordinate volunteers across communications projects

. Build internal capabilities through clear standards, workflows, and guidance

. Foster alignment, ownership, and excellence within the team

Events & Calendar Management

. Own the end-to-end church communications and events calendar

. Manage multiple concurrent projects with strong on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery

. Coordinate pre-event, live, and post-event communications across channels for churchwide key events

Channel & Social Media Strategy

. Develop and manage a clear channel strategy across social media and digital platforms

. Differentiate content by platform, audience, and purpose

. Oversee day-to-day social media execution and content cadence

Brand & Visual Stewardship

. Act as the guardian of the church's brand, tone, and visual identity

. Develop and maintain a practical brand and communications playbook for ministry teams

. Review and guide creative outputs to ensure consistency and quality

Creative Direction & Content Oversight

. Provide clear briefs and direction to designers and content producers

. Review copy, visuals, and videos to ensure cohesion and clarity

. Hands-on design skills are a bonus strong creative judgment and attention to detail are essential

Data & Performance Insights

. Use Meta Business Suite and Google Analytics to track performance and audience behaviour

. Translate data into clear insights and recommendations to improve engagement and reach

Requirements

. Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related field

. 5-8 years of experience in communications, brand, marketing, or digital roles

. Proven experience managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and timelines

. Experience leading small teams and/or volunteers

. Hands-on familiarity with Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and social platforms

. Strong written communication skills with a clear, thoughtful, and pastoral tone
