Our client is seeking a strategic but hands-on supply chain leader who blends engineering knowledge with global sourcing and supplier management expertise, particularly in Asia/China commodities. The ideal candidate can balance cost savings with quality, supplier performance, and innovation. This is a specialized, senior individual contributor role focused on commodity management in mechatronics, electronics, or vision modules.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commodity management for a specialized technology area (Mechatronics, Electronics, or Vision) globally.
Develop and maintain a deep supplier network in Asia/China; evaluate suppliers using QLTC methodology (Quality, Logistics, Technology, Cost).
Draft, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts independently, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, Product, and Quality teams to ensure supplier capability aligns with product requirements.
Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, develop business cases, and propose strategic sourcing decisions to senior management.
Monitor and improve supplier performance via KPIs, scorecards, and corrective action plans.
Maintain up-to-date supply market intelligence and recommend improvements for cost, quality, and delivery.
Utilize SAP/R3 for supplier, contract, and procurement data management; extract insights for analysis and decision-making.
Support sourcing strategy execution with analysis, statistics, and monitoring of defined KPIs.
Occasionally travel to supplier locations in China, Malaysia, or Europe as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Engineering or Commercial degree.
Experience:
510 years in semiconductors, electronics, precision engineering, or mechatronics industries.
Proven experience in global sourcing, supplier qualification, auditing, and development, particularly in Asia/China.
Track record in contract negotiation and supplier management.
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of module manufacturing processes, key components, and production/quality methods.
Ability to see the bigger technical picture for procurement decisions; hands-on technical expertise not mandatory.
Tools & Methodologies:
SAP/R3 experience.
Advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
Experience with QLTC supplier evaluation methodology.
