STAGE DIRECTOR

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with all theatre departments (such as set design, costume, lighting, and sound) to ensure the stage presentation aligns with the director's artistic vision.

Work in partnership with the Production Manager to ensure rehearsals and performances run smoothly within budget constraints.

Oversee the rehearsal process, guiding actors in character interpretation to maintain consistent and compelling performances.

Develop stage blocking, coordinate scene transitions, and shape actors pacing, energy, and emotional delivery.

Provide creative direction and integrate visual and auditory elements-including lighting, set, and sound design-to support the narrative tone and atmosphere.

Maintain a director's book (prompt book) that includes stage movements, technical cues, and essential creative notes.

Ensure a safe rehearsal and performance environment by participating in risk assessments and safety planning.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Stage Director or in a similar theatrical artistic leadership role.

Strong computer skills and familiarity with current theatre production technologies.

Ability to stay composed under pressure and address challenges efficiently.

Excellent artistic sensibility with a sharp eye for detail.

Formal training in theatre directing or related performing arts discipline relevant degrees or certifications are preferred.
