Job Description

About Us

We're building the next generation of urban mobility in Southeast Asia. Our car-sharing platform connects drivers with vehicles seamlessly, managing complex logistics, real-time tracking, payments, and user experiences at scale.

We are a lean, fast-moving engineering team that ships features users rely on daily.

Role Overview

As a Staff SDET, you will own the quality and test automation strategy across our entire product ecosystem - including mobile applications (iOS & Android), web platforms, and backend APIs.

You will serve as the hands-on technical authority for testing, responsible for designing automation frameworks, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines, and continuously raising the engineering quality bar.

This is an individual contributor (IC) role. You will lead through technical excellence and automation-first thinking.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation & Platform

  • Design and build a scalable test automation platform (frameworks, tooling, test data, reporting)
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites across UI (mobile & web), API, integration, and performance layers

Quality Strategy & Governance

  • Own end-to-end QA strategy across mobile, web, and backend systems
  • Define and enforce quality standards, testing processes, and release criteria
  • Champion a strong quality culture and promote shift-left testing practices

CI/CD & Release Enablement

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines for fast and reliable deployments
  • Support continuous delivery with high confidence in releases

Performance & Reliability

  • Design and execute performance and load testing strategies to ensure scalability
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with engineering teams to resolve defects and improve product quality
  • Communicate risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
  • Perform exploratory and end-to-end testing, including real-world scenarios where applicable

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software testing, automation, or quality engineering
  • Strong expertise in white-box, grey-box, and black-box testing
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (preferably JavaScript/TypeScript)

Technical Skills

  • Web automation frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO)
  • Mobile automation tools (e.g. Appium, Detox, Maestro, XCUITest, Espresso)
  • API testing (REST, GraphQL)
  • CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Fastlane)

Core Competencies

  • Experience building QA automation platforms from scratch
  • Strong understanding of QA strategy (balancing coverage, speed, and cost)
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies (Scrum, TDD, BDD)
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience in security testing and penetration testing
  • Familiarity with code quality tools (e.g. SonarQube, ESLint)
  • Performance testing tools (e.g. k6, JMeter, Gatling)
  • Observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Sentry)
  • Valid driving licence (for real-world testing scenarios)
  • Additional language proficiency beyond English

Why Join Us

  • Greenfield opportunity - build the entire QA automation platform from scratch
  • High impact role - directly improve reliability of thousands of daily car-sharing trips
  • Lean team environment - low bureaucracy, fast decision-making
  • Hands-on work (80-90%) - focus on coding, building, and problem-solving
  • Collaborative culture - high trust, strong engineering team
  • Competitive salary package with flexible work arrangements and professional development support
