As a Staff Procurement Engineer in Kulicke & Soffa, this position will drive product cost optimization and supplier strategies across the product lifecycle. This includes partnering with Engineering and cross-functional teams to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets, managing supplier sourcing and negotiations, and supporting new product introduction through effective cost analysis, planning, and stakeholder alignment.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a key partner in driving significant product cost reduction initiatives, supporting early-phase innovation by collaborating closely with design engineers and during the manufacturing phase.
- Ensure that cost, quality, and availability targets are achieved throughout the product development phase and across the full product lifecycle.
- Drive cost savings through cost reduction projects and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives.
- Manage cost roadmap information, including preparing presentations and providing regular updates to key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost models for assigned products or modules, ensuring information is readily available as required.
- Ensure that project or product cost targets are achieved.
- Facilitate early supplier involvement and identify key cost drivers to influence design decisions and achieve target costing.
- Ownership of make-vs-buy analysis to support strategic and cost-effective decision making.
- Driving VAVE initiatives to deliver sustainable cost reduction outcomes.
- Develop SME (Subject Matter Expertise) in Supply Chain to facilitate technology collaboration with selected suppliers and influence technology roadmap.
- Leading supplier communication on ECO implementation, including RFQ management where required
- Strengthening governance in new supplier onboarding, ensuring full compliance with council approval processes.
- Review and negotiate supplier terms and conditions, including handling exceptions to mitigate potential risks.
- Manage procurement activities such as quotations, documentation, and related processes to support engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Lead new product sourcing and management, working closely with Engineering, Quality, Commodity teams, and NPI stakeholders to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Build strong, value-added relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier and component release process, ensuring compliance with quality and sustainability standards.
- Support price negotiations to drive both short-term and long-term cost reduction opportunities.
- Execute commodity strategies in alignment with business objectives.
- Analyze lead times, identify critical paths, and prioritize demand requirements effectively.
- Participate actively in project meetings and brainstorming sessions to identify feasible solutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Material Engineering or related field.
- Typically 13 or more years of relevant experience in Procurement or Material Engineering.
- Working knowledge of geometric tolerances.
- Experience in creating or modifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Experience in managing overseas suppliers.
- Understand Bill of Material (BOM) structure, able to interpret technical drawings / specifications and familiar with Engineering Change Process.
- Experience in Operation Management or capital equipment design is a plus.
- Strong Analytical, planning and interpersonal skills as well as experience in engaging stakeholders.
- Positive and able to work in fast-paced environment.
- Mature, independent and results-oriented.
- Able to work with different departments / functional groups.
- Some travel is required for the role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
