STAFF NURSE

JOB SUMMARY

Plays a central role in providing nursing care to residents in nursing home. Supports the Nurse Managers & Director (Nursing) in daily operations of the Ward. Responsible for providing nursing care and management to residents.

JOB SCOPE

CLINICAL, TRAINING, QUALITY AND RESIDENTS SAFETY

• Comply with approved standards of nursing practices.

• Provide nursing services requiring substantial and specialised nursing skills.

• Work closely with the resident's doctor and the multi-disciplinary team to provide care to the residents update on changes in the residents conditions and needs.

• Ensure care delivery and nursing interventions as outlined in the care plan.

• Evaluate resident's response to care interventions on a regular basis and recommend revision of care plans as necessary.

• Works with allied health professionals and/ or initiate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.

• Carries out and supervises assessments of all new admissions.

• Prepare clinical documentation and ensure all documentations are current

• Prepares and administers medications to residents and complies with safe medication practices

• Responsible for the safe keeping of controlled drugs

• Supervise staff to ensure safe medication practices

• Deal with any emergency that arises and ensures prompt actions to mitigate the situation. Escalates promptly to Nurse Manager, where necessary

STAFF RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT

• Participate in training and development of staff.

• Work with immediate reporting supervisor to conduct quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.

• Supervise, mentor and guide Nursing Team (Enrolled Nurses, Nursing Aides, Health Attendants and Care Support staff)

OTHERS / ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Work with staff to maintain a safe and clean environment.

• Deputize the nurse manager in his/ her absence.

• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Senior Nurse Manager/ Nurse Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Locally trained: Diploma/ Degree in Nursing

• Foreign-trained: Degree/ Diploma in Nursing

PROFESSIONAL LICENCE

• Locally trained: RN registered with Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)

• Foreign-trained: Board Pass (Professional Regulation Council PRC)
