As a Scrub Nurse/Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in the surgical team by preparing for and assisting during surgical procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients throughout the perioperative process.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the operating theatre, instruments, equipment and sterile field prior to surgery.
  • Perform surgical hand scrubbing and adhere strictly to aseptic and infection control practices.
  • Coordinate and setup surgical instruments, consumables and supplies based on the daily surgical list and surgeon's preferences.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating needs and passing instruments and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor patient condition and support safe conduct of the procedure.
  • Conduct counts of instruments, sponges and needles before and after surgery to ensure nothing is retained.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care where required.
  • Assist with patient transfer to recovery / post-anaesthesia care units when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functional readiness of the operating theatre.
  • Manage inventory, restock surgical supplies, and perform equipment checks in coordination with the team.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, circulating nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow departmental policies, safety protocols, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as assigned by on-site supervisors / surgeons.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
  • Possess at least a Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Candidate must possess at least 3 years working experience in Major Operating Theatre (OT).
  • Scrub trained experience nurses will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with more experience may be considered for the OT Nurse Clinician position.
