About the Role
The Staff Nurse in a Plastic Surgery Clinic is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. This role includes pre-operative preparation, intra-operative assistance, post-operative care, patient education, and ensuring a safe, sterile, and compassionate clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for plastic surgery patients
- Prepare patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures
- Assist plastic surgeons during procedures and minor surgeries
- Monitor vital signs, wound healing, and post-operative recovery
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal
- Respond promptly to emergencies and post-procedure complications
Patient Care & Education
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions
- Provide emotional support and reassurance
- Explain procedures, recovery expectations, and aftercare plans
- Ensure informed consent and patient understanding
Clinic Operations
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards
- Prepare treatment rooms and surgical instruments
- Manage medical supplies and medication inventory
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
- Support scheduling, patient flow, and coordination of care
Professional Practice
- Follow clinic policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards
- Participate in continuous education and skills training
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and administrative staff
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience (experience in plastic surgery or surgical nursing preferred)
- Knowledge of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures
- Strong understanding of infection control standards and surgical protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
