An Anaesthesia Nurse, often referred to as a Nurse Anaesthetist or Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetist, plays a critical role in the administration of anaesthesia and the overall care of patients undergoing surgical procedures
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
- Provide professional nursing care by advocating for the patients
- Assist the Assistant Nurse Clinician/Nurse Clinician/Nurse Manager in assessing, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients care pre, intra and post-operative phase.
- Assist the Assistant Nurse clinician/Nurse Clinician/Manager/HOD to develop unit audits in line with Operating Theatre and Endoscopy policies and practices.
- Assist to develop and support staff in all Quality Assurance matters affecting the department.
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough preoperative evaluations, including reviewing medical histories and conducting physical exams.
- Anaesthesia Planning: Collaborate with an Anaesthesiologists and Surgical teams to develop individualized Anaesthesia care plans.
- Administration of Anaesthesia: Safely administer various types of anaesthesia (general, regional, or local) during surgical procedures.
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients vital signs and anaesthesia levels throughout the procedure to ensure safety and comfort.
- Postoperative Care: Oversee patients during recovery, managing pain relief and monitoring for any complications related to anaesthesia.
- Adhere the practices and SOPs to provide safe patient care.
- Assist in the evaluation of new procedures and practices.
- Perform scrub and circulating in the Operating Theatre and Endoscopy Suite.
- Assist in the implementation of certain project such as quality improvement project.
- Work in multi-disciplinary team/task such as a Scrub Nurse OT and ENDO, Circulating Nurse, AU Nurse, PACU Nurse, CSSD Nurse and lead the Operating Theatre Technician in maintaining patient safety pre, intra and post-operative in ensuring a safe and comfortable surgical environment.
- Ensure that surgical specimens are correctly labelled, preserved and dispatched to correct laboratories for investigation.
- Provide safe pre- and post-operative delivery of patients to the Operating Room/Endoscopy Suite or Post Anaesthesia Care Unit.
- Discharge patient in accordance to discharge criteria.
- Perform any other duties as and when requested by immediate Superior/Assistant Nurse Clinician/Nurse Clinician/Manager/HOD
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:-
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing with a valid Singapore Nursing Board License
- Advanced Diploma or Post-Basic qualification in Peri-operative Nursing/Anaesthesia Nursing or equivalent is preferred.
- Registered with Singapore Nursing Board.
- Possess Basic Care Life Support (BCLS).
- Min of 3 years of work experience in Operating Theatre Setting or at least one year of hands-on experience in Endoscopy cases.
- Effective team player and willing to learn
- Good communication skills and able to build rapport easily.
- Confident and poise in delivery care.
- Able to perform rotating shift duties up to 12 hours (average 44 hours per work week) inclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
- Those with more experiences maybe considered for senior position.
