We are supporting a client involved in complex, high-value projects across the Data Centre, Semiconductor, and Pharmaceutical sectors and are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Commercial professional to join their project team.
This role will be responsible for both pre-contract and post-contract commercial management, with strong involvement in tendering, procurement, cost control, contract administration, and final account management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support pre- and post-contract activities for assigned projects.
- Prepare tender documentation, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and bid submissions.
- Review project specifications, drawings, scope of works, and commercial requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure key stakeholders, including Project, Finance, and Accounts teams, understand and comply with relevant contractual requirements.
- Support Senior / Commercial Managers in the day-to-day management of project commercial activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure effective project delivery.
- Assist in resolving contractual, cost, variation, and other commercial matters.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, subcontractors, and suppliers while ensuring expenditure remains within approved budgets.
- Evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders and provide recommendations for contract awards.
- Monitor project expenditure and prepare regular and ad-hoc cost reports, forecasts, and budget updates.
- Maintain strong cost control and ensure purchases and commitments remain within project budgets.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and commercial savings.
- Review and verify payment claims, invoices, and supporting documents prior to payment.
- Monitor progress claims and payment collections.
- Manage variation orders, commercial documentation, and project records.
- Support the preparation, negotiation, and closure of final accounts.
- Attend project, commercial, and site coordination meetings as required.
- Provide guidance and support to junior Quantity Surveyors when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Around 4-6 years of relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale or high-value construction / engineering projects.
- Exposure to Data Centre, Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Advanced Manufacturing, Cleanroom, M&E, or Mission-Critical projects will be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, cost management, procurement, tendering, and final accounts.
- Good knowledge of standard forms of contract and industry commercial practices.
- Strong numerical, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong planning, organisation, and time-management capabilities.
- Clear and structured communicator with the ability to build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Collaborative team player who can work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
