Description
Position Summary:
The Sr. Instructional Designer will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and evaluation of learning experiences across various delivery formats, including online, in-person, and blended learning using instructional design theories and technology to create various learning materials. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in learning theory with creativity to produce high-quality, engaging instructional content that meets specified learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct needs analysis: Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to assess training needs, identify performance gaps, and define clear learning objectives.
- Design and develop content: Apply established instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create storyboards, course outlines, and other design documents.
- Create instructional materials: Produce / organise existing content to create a variety of materials, including e-learning modules, videos, job aids, quizzes, presentations, and facilitator guides, using authoring tools like Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.
- Integrate multimedia: Able to create / incorporate visual, audio, and interactive elements into learning content.
- Manage the learning process: Oversee the implementation of courses within a Learning Management System (LMS), and other tools ( Gamified learning, video role play etc ) ensuring proper process, functionality and measurements.
- Evaluate effectiveness: Design and implement evaluation strategies to measure the impact of training programs as per Kirkpatric model and collect feedback for continuous improvement.
- Manage projects: Plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial concept to final delivery, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Stay current: Research and apply the latest trends and innovations in instructional design, learning theory, and educational technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
- 6+ years of proven experience as an Instructional Designer or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing instructional materials.
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE, as well as adult learning principles, educational psychology and learning evaluation methodologies such as the Kirkpatric model.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience in creating multimedia content, including video, audio, and graphics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
- Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
