Functional Reports to: VP & GM, Industrial Asia Pacific

Position Summary

The Senior FP&A Analyst will be a key business partner to the VP & GM, APAC, and the regional Financial Directors, providing insightful financial analysis, strategic support, robust forecasting and budgeting processes. This role is critical in driving financial performance, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency, and ensuring sound financial decision-making across our industrial business in the APAC & IMEA region. The role is not limited to the APAC & IMEA region but will additionally support the Industrial FP&A Team in Germany.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Financial Planning & Forecasting:
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes for the APAC region.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, and decision-making.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare and present timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports for the APAC region, including variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the industrial manufacturing sector (e.g., production costs, gross margin analysis, operating expenses, capital expenditures, inventory levels, plant efficiency).
  • Provide in-depth analysis of sales, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability by product line, customer segment, and geography within the APAC region.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes in collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Business Partnering:
  • Act as a strategic financial advisor to the APAC leadership team, providing financial guidance and support for operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement) to drive performance improvements and achieve business objectives.
  • Support commercial decisions by providing financial analysis for new product introductions, pricing strategies, and customer contracts.
  • Assist in the financial evaluation of capital expenditure projects and other investment opportunities.
  • Process Improvement & Systems:
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve FP&A processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Consolidation Tool BPC and BI tools effectively for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis & Projects:
  • Undertake ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required by senior management.
  • Support regional M&A activities, including due diligence and integration, if applicable.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or professional accounting qualification (CPA, CMA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in FP&A
  • Significant experience within the industrial manufacturing sector is essential.
  • Proven experience working within the APAC region, with a strong understanding of diverse market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced level) and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and BI/CPM tools (e.g., Hyperion, Anaplan, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

Note: Routine FP&A Activities for APAC

Weekly

  • Sales & Order Book Review:
    • Track actual sales performance against weekly targets and rolling forecast.
    • Analyze order intake, backlog status, and pipeline.
    • Prepare and distribute a flash report on key sales and order metrics.
  • Key Operational KPI Monitoring:
    • Review critical operational KPIs (e.g., production output, plant utilization/efficiency, key material cost fluctuations, scrap rates).
    • Identify and flag any significant deviations or emerging issues.
  • Short-Term Cash Flow Monitoring:
    • Review short-term cash inflows/outflows if within the scope of responsibility.
    • Liaise with treasury/accounting on immediate cash needs or surpluses.
  • Ad-hoc Urgent Analysis:
    • Address any immediate analytical requests from regional leadership concerning performance or specific issues.
Monthly

  • Month-End Close Support & Analysis:
    • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end closing.
    • Perform detailed variance analysis of actual results vs. budget, forecast, and prior year (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
    • Analyze revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margins, and operating expenses by country, plant, product line, etc.
  • Financial Reporting Package Preparation:
    • Develop and distribute a comprehensive monthly financial reporting package for APAC regional management and corporate headquarters.
    • Include financial statements, variance explanations, KPI dashboards, and insightful commentary.
  • Rolling Forecast Update:
    • Update the rolling financial forecast (e.g., 1218-month outlook) based on actual performance, market trends, and business insights.
    • Communicate changes and underlying assumptions to stakeholders.
  • Departmental/Cost Center Reviews:
    • Review actual spending with department heads/budget owners.
    • Identify areas of over/under spending and opportunities for cost control.
  • Inventory Analysis:
    • Analyze inventory levels, turnover, and provisions for obsolescence.
    • Monitor alignment with sales forecasts and production plans.
  • Working Capital Management Review:
    • Analyze trends in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory to optimize working capital.
Quarterly

  • Quarterly Forecasting Cycle:
    • Lead the detailed quarterly forecasting process, incorporating latest business trends, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
    • Consolidate inputs from various countries/business units within APAC.
  • Quarterly Business Review (QBR) Preparation:
    • Prepare financial presentations and analysis for QBR meetings with regional and/or corporate leadership.
    • Highlight key performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and action plans.
  • Deep-Dive Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct more in-depth analysis on specific areas (e.g., customer profitability, product line profitability, impact of currency fluctuations, ROI on specific investments).
  • Balance Sheet & Cash Flow Review:
    • Detailed review of balance sheet health and cash flow generation.
  • Compliance & Controls Monitoring (as applicable):
    • Review adherence to financial policies and internal controls, liaising with internal audit if necessary.
Annually

  • Annual Budgeting Process Leadership:
    • Lead and orchestrate the entire annual budgeting process for the APAC region, from setting guidelines and assumptions to consolidation and presentation.
    • Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to develop robust and realistic budgets.
  • Strategic Planning Support:
    • Provide financial input and modeling support for the long-term strategic planning process.
    • Evaluate financial implications of strategic initiatives.
  • Standard Cost Updates (Manufacturing Specific):
    • Participate in or lead the annual update of standard costs for manufactured products, considering material, labor, and overhead changes.
  • Year-End Reporting & Audit Support:
    • Support the year-end financial closing and reporting process.
    • Provide necessary information and analysis to internal and external auditors.
  • Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Budgeting & Review:
    • Lead the preparation and review of the annual CAPEX budget.
    • Track actual CAPEX spending against budget throughout the year.
  • Performance Target Setting:
    • Assist in setting financial and operational targets for the upcoming year.
  • Incentive Compensation Plan Support:
    • Provide data and analysis for the calculation of performance-based incentive compensation, if applicable.
