Job Summary
The Senior Director, Thermal Technology & Operations, will be responsible for leading strategic programs focused on innovation, special initiatives, and operational excellence within the company's thermal generation/management portfolio. This executive role will drive the development and implementation of advanced thermal technologies (e.g., AI-driven predictive analytics, advanced cooling/heating systems) while optimizing O&M (Operations & Maintenance) performance, managing costs, and overseeing digital transformation. The role acts as a key link between R&D, engineering, and manufacturing to deliver high-impact, sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Innovation: Develop and execute long-term technical strategies to enhance thermal asset efficiency, reduce emissions, and improve reliability. Lead the adoption of next-gen thermal technologies, such as advanced heat exchangers, AI-driven predictive analytics, or low-carbon technologies. Define the roadmap for technical innovation and digital transformation (Digital Center of Excellence).
- Operational Excellence & Performance: Optimize O&M processes to minimize downtime and maximize productivity and profitability. Oversee cost-control strategies and negotiate major thermal maintenance agreements. Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and build high-performing engineering and operational teams in a matrixed organization. Manage budgets (Opex/Capex) and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to executive leadership.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Project Management: Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (R&D, Sales, Procurement) and external partners/vendors. Drive complex projects from conception to commissioning and operational handover.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Thermal, or Electrical) or a related field MBA is highly preferred.
- Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience in thermal generation, manufacturing, or process industries (e.g., power, chemicals, HVAC, or high-temperature processing).
- Leadership: 7+ years in a senior leadership role, with a proven track record of managing large-scale operations or complex engineering teams.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of heat transfer, thermal modeling, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Experience with CFD tools (ANSYS, FloTHERM) is often required.
- Skills: Strong financial acumen (budgeting, ROI), proficiency in Lean/Six Sigma, and experience with ERP systems.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in sustainability, waste-to-energy, or carbon reduction initiatives.
Key Competencies
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance technical depth with long-term business goals.
- Agility: Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and supply chain disruptions.
