Job Description

ABOUT SHRI
The Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) is Singapore's longest established professional HR body, dedicated to advancing the HR profession and building a thriving community of HR practitioners, business leaders and organisations. Through professional development, industry events, thought leadership and strategic partnerships, SHRI supports individuals and organisations in navigating the future of work.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development professional to grow partnership and sponsorship revenue across SHRI's portfolio of events.

This is a hands-on, KPI-driven role focused on prospecting, pitching and closing. You will identify potential sponsors and partners, build a strong sales pipeline, develop compelling partnership propositions and convert opportunities into confirmed revenue.

You will work closely with SHRI's Events & Membership team to understand upcoming programmes, audiences and partnership opportunities, and take these propositions to market.

Beyond event sponsorships, you will also identify opportunities to deepen relationships through corporate membership, member benefits, community partnerships and other collaborations within the SHRI ecosystem.

Success in this role will be measured primarily by revenue secured, pipeline generated, conversion and new partnerships developed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Event Sponsorship & Business Development

You will proactively build and convert a pipeline of sponsors and partners for SHRI's events and initiatives.

This includes:

  • Research and identify organisations whose business objectives and target audiences align with SHRI's events and HR community.
  • Build and maintain an active pipeline of prospective sponsors and partners.
  • Conduct proactive outreach through calls, emails, networking, meetings and other business development channels.
  • Pitch SHRI's events, audiences and partnership opportunities to prospective organisations and decision-makers.
  • Understand prospective partners objectives and develop relevant partnership propositions that create value for both SHRI and the partner.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations and other materials to support business development conversations.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and drive opportunities from initial contact through to closure.
  • Maintain disciplined follow-up and accurate reporting of leads, opportunities, forecasts and confirmed partnerships.
  • Work closely with the Events & Membership team to ensure agreed partnership commitments and benefits are delivered effectively.
  • Meet agreed revenue, pipeline, conversion and new business KPIs.

MEMBERSHIP PARTNERSHIPS & COLLABORATIONS

You will look beyond individual event transactions to identify opportunities for longer-term relationships between SHRI and its partners.

This includes:

  • Identify companies, professional bodies, industry associations and communities with potential for membership collaborations.
  • Explore corporate membership opportunities arising from sponsorship and business development conversations.
  • Develop collaborations that extend SHRI's reach to new organisations, professional communities and potential members.
  • Identify opportunities for reciprocal member benefits, cross-community engagement and joint initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Membership team to develop promising opportunities into sustainable collaborations.
  • Identify opportunities to grow event sponsors and partners into longer-term relationships across the wider SHRI ecosystem.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We hire for demonstrated commercial ability, initiative and relationship-building skills rather than specific qualifications or years of experience.

Strong candidates typically bring:

  • Hunter mindset: self-motivated and proactive in identifying prospects, initiating conversations and creating opportunities rather than relying primarily on inbound leads.
  • Business development ability: comfortable with prospecting, cold outreach, pitching and closing B2B opportunities.
  • Commercial judgement: able to understand what matters to prospective partners and develop propositions that create mutual value.
  • Pitching and negotiation skills: confident, engaging decision-makers, handling objections and moving conversations towards closure.
  • Pipeline discipline: systematic about prospecting, follow-ups, CRM management, forecasting and conversion.
  • Relationship-building ability: able to turn transactional sponsorship conversations into longer-term organisational relationships.
  • Execution discipline: accountable for targets and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Digital and AI confidence: comfortable using CRM, digital prospecting and AI tools for research, lead generation, outreach, proposal development and productivity.

Experience in B2B sales, sponsorship sales, media sales, events, partnerships or business development would be advantageous.

An existing network among HR leaders, employers, professional services firms or organisations serving the HR and business community would be valuable.

WHY JOIN US

  • Build partnerships around some of SHRI's flagship industry events and initiatives.
  • Engage directly with corporate decision-makers, HR leaders and organisations across different industries.
  • Gain exposure across sponsorship, events, membership and strategic partnerships.
  • Have significant autonomy to build your own pipeline and pursue new opportunities.
  • Earn performance-based incentives directly linked to the business you generate.
  • Turn successful event partnerships into longer-term relationships across the wider SHRI ecosystem.
