Job Description

1) To assist SLPs during therapy sessions and in clinics by:

a) ensuring that sessions with each SLP have been scheduled

b) preparing therapy resources / materials / equipment for each session after consultation with the SLP(s) concerned, before, during, or after each session (e.g. ensuring that the equipment required are ready, preparing picture cards, communication books, etc.)

c) assisting with the escort of clients to and from therapy as and when required

d) assisting with therapy in a manner prescribed by the SLP(s) concerned during the session

e) disinfecting / cleaning therapy resources / materials / equipment used during the sessions and

f) tidying up therapy areas after the session (if necessary).

2) To assist with Department in the following administrative tasks:

a) collating outpatient (OP) attendance records from SLPs for charging purposes

b) collating therapy rehabilitation hours

c) collating cumulative statistics

d) collating and updating session schedules and contact details of EIPIC / Outpatient / School clients

e) updating the initial screening list and informing SLP concerned (every week)

f) updating leave records (every month)

g) completing, submitting client cancellation forms, and informing EIPIC CPC, EIPIC 630, School and any other programme-in-charge (whichever is applicable) AND parents first thing in the morning whenever an SLP is on leave

h) answering phone-calls to the department

i) collecting mails to the department from Association HQ and the School pigeonholes

j) filing (including filing of client assessments, memos, progress reports, therapy notes, etc.)

k) photocopying required resources / materials

l) designing, printing, and distribution of department materials (including client satisfaction questionnaires, brochures posters, department letters, etc.)

m) typing department minutes (rotation)

n) ensuring that there is an adequate supply of office consumables (e.g. printing paper, print cartridges, laminating sheets, etc.) and

o) assisting the Head of Department and other SLPs with department-related administrative and other ad-hoc work (e.g. inventory taking).

3) To assist the Department with parent / caregiver / teacher training by:

a) designing, printing, and distributing publicity materials (e.g. brochures, etc.)

b) printing, photocopying and distributing programme materials

c) preparing registration, feedback forms and other required materials

d) liaising with parents / caregivers / teachers for replies

e) collecting keys to the training rooms / training venues and other required equipment (e.g. AVA cables, remotes, etc.)

f) arranging furniture according to training needs

g) setting up laptop(s), speakers, projectors, as instructed

h) manning the registration table

i) buying refreshments (e.g. snacks and drinks) and laying out the refreshment table

j) cleaning the rooms and re-arranging the furniture after the programme

k) handing over the keys and other loaned equipment back to Association HQ Admin

l) collecting the feedback forms and

m) collating the results of participant feedback.

4) To facilitate smooth running of the department by:

a) opening therapy rooms and switching on the air-conditioners in the morning before each work day begins

b) tidying / cleaning therapy areas (if necessary) before 8.30am (rotation)

c) maintaining the department pantry area and associated equipment (e.g. daily clearing and refilling of the hot water pot, regular fridge cleaning, etc.)

d) conducting routine maintenance and cleaning of toys and equipment (e.g. fitting batteries, checking that all toys are in working condition, cameras, videocams, etc.)

e) emptying of the shredder machine (weekly) and

f) ensuring that all power points are switched off and locking therapy rooms at the end of the work day.

Requirements

. Minimum GCE O Level

. Certification in Therapy assistant course from HMI or certified in any therapy-related WDA approved course/willing to complete certification after joining.

. Proficient in basic Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

. Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards.

. Good communication skills in verbal and written form.

. Willing to provide individual and group therapy under the supervision of the therapists.

. Prior VWO experience will be an advantage.

. A Heart to serve in the special needs sector.
