Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a
Specialist Associate in the
Metabolic Liver Disease Research Lab, Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
The Metabolic Liver Disease Research Lab focuses on translational and clinical research in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), advanced fibrosis, cirrhosis, and related liver diseases. The successful candidate will support ongoing clinical research studies and work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team. Appointments will be made on a one-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
The Specialist Associate will provide research and administrative support for clinical research studies conducted by the Metabolic Liver Disease Research Lab. The role involves assisting with patient recruitment, clinical data and specimen collection, study coordination, laboratory work, and regulatory documentation to ensure the smooth conduct of research projects.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
The Specialist Associate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and study team and will be responsible for:
- Assist with subject recruitment, informed consent, scheduling of study visits, and follow-up of research participants.
- Collect, process, and store clinical specimens according to study protocols.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures and assist with wet laboratory experiments.
- Maintain study databases and perform accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Assist with ethics submissions, regulatory documentation, and study administration.
- Coordinate research meetings and liaise with collaborators when required.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and study protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

The Applicant Should
- Hold a Polytechnic Diploma or bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, Life Sciences, Nursing, or a related discipline.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be organised, meticulous, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous research or laboratory experience will be an advantage, although training will be provided.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
