We're looking for a passionate Sous Chef who takes pride in their craft and thrives in a dynamic, creative kitchen.

The Role

You are the creative heartbeat of our kitchen - executing beautifully crafted dishes for private events, corporate dinners, weddings, and special occasions. Working alongside the Head Chef, you bring flavour, finesse, and flair to every plate. No two days are the same here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute high-quality cuisine across a variety of event formats - from plated dinners to cocktail receptions and bespoke themed menus
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development and seasonal recipe innovation
  • Maintain exceptional plating standards and consistency across all service styles
  • Lead the kitchen team during service step up as acting Head Chef when required
  • Ensure full compliance with SFA/HACCP food safety standards
  • Manage mise en place, stock levels, FIFO, and minimise waste
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and motivated kitchen environment
  • Brief and guide junior kitchen staff on recipes, techniques, and standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a quality restaurant, hotel, or events kitchen
  • Genuine passion for food - creative, curious, and always raising the bar
  • Strong technique across multiple cuisines ability to adapt to diverse event menus
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and event-driven schedules
  • Team player who leads by example and keeps calm under pressure
  • Solid food safety knowledge (HACCP/SFA)
  • A portfolio or examples of past menus/dishes is a bonus

Working Hours

5-day work week - schedule aligned to events calendar (includes evenings, weekends, and public holidays). Rest days rostered in lieu.
