Job Description

Elephant Grounds is an award-winning Hong Kong-born lifestyle brand renowned for its specialty coffee, Japanese influenced cuisine, and caf culture. Founded in 2013 by Gerald Li and Kevin Poon, the brand began as a coffee kiosk within a retail shop and has since grown into a fully integrated coffee roastery, artisanal bakery, and restaurant concept with operations in Hong Kong, Manila, Jakarta Q1 2026, and now Singapore.

Our coffee program is led by an award-winning team - including a champion roaster and other specialty coffee professionals - with a relentless dedication to building a sustainable coffee program. Elephant Grounds focuses on the alchemy of space - design, music, and light - and the impact they have on guests, creating an unmistakable energy and vibe. We are a growing hospitality group preparing to launch the first local outlet of a renowned international caf concept known for its specialty coffee, seasonal menus, and modern ambiance. This launch marks a strategic expansion of our diverse F&B portfolio, we aim to deliver quality, consistency, and innovation at every customer touchpoint.

We are seeking a dedicated and capable Sous Chef to support kitchen operations and team leadership for this exciting new caf concept. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong kitchen fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to step up during peak hours or in the absence of the Head Chef.

Job Responsibilities:

. Assist Head Chef with daily prep, cooking, and quality control.

. Coordinate kitchen team during service when needed.

. Ensure consistency in portioning, plating, and recipes.

. Support inventory check, stock rotation, and storage.

. Train and guide junior kitchen staff.

1) Kitchen Support & Line Execution

. Assist the Head Chef in n daily food prep, service execution, and quality control.

. Lead and coordinate the kitchen team during service when required.

. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety.

. Ensure consistent portioning, plating, and adherence to franchise recipes.

2) Inventory & Cost Control

. Assist in inventory checks, stock rotation, and proper storage practices.

. Assist in monitoring food cost and controlling waste.

. Ensure all prep and production aligns with portion control guidelines.

3) Team Training & Development

. Provide on-the-job training for junior kitchen staff.

. Reinforce kitchen SOPs and food safety standards.

. Foster a respectful and efficient kitchen culture.

4) Additional Responsibilities

. Work closely with the Head Chef, service team, and management to ensure smooth service flow.

. Perform any other additional responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirement:

. Minimum 3 years of experience in professional hot kitchen, preferably in caf, brunch or bistro modern casual dining settings.

. Strong understanding knowledge of cooking techniques and plating. of food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating.

. Ability to lead a small team and maintain composure during peak hours.

. Food Safety Hygiene Certification required.

. Ability to work flexible hours/shift, including weekends and public holidays.

Must Have Factor:

. Team player with a proactive, hands-on approach.

. Calm under pressure and reliable in fast-paced environment.

. Eager to learn and grow with a dynamic culinary team.
