About The Role
As Solutions Engineering Manager, you will lead the regional translation of Global Switch's engineering strategy into high‑quality, commercially robust technical solutions. You will set technical direction through early design stages of new‑build and redevelopment projects, ensuring alignment with Global Switch Reference Designs, sustainability objectives, and investment criteria. Acting as a trusted technical authority, you will support site feasibility, masterplanning, pre‑sales solutions, and capacity planning, while partnering closely with investment, delivery, operations, and sales teams to enable informed decision‑making and long‑term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously review and maintain technical intelligence on customer requirements, competitor facilities, and emerging market demands to inform strategic design decisions.
- Conduct in-depth research on new technologies, sustainable engineering approaches, and innovative solutions, engaging with manufacturers and industry partners to stay ahead of product development and best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of global and regional industry trends, regulatory requirements, and efficiency standards for data centre design, ensuring alignment with sustainability and operational excellence goals.
- Perform detailed test fits and feasibility assessments for potential acquisition sites identified by the Investment team, evaluating technical constraints and opportunities.
- Support internal and external teams in due diligence processes, providing technical insights and risk analysis for new development opportunities.
- Embed sustainable design principles into all planning and development activities, identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve operational efficiency.
- Analyse and compare technical solutions particularly power and cooling infrastructure against key parameters such as efficiency, operability, total cost of ownership (TCO), and design complexity.
- Work closely with group delivery and site teams during design and construction phases to incorporate lessons learned and design improvements into future proposals, ensuring continuous enhancement of technical standards.
- Identify key risks and help to plan and mitigate against the risks associated with a technical proposal.
