The Jeppesen ForeFlight Commercial Aviation Sales Team is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Solutions Engineer specialising in Crew/Fleet Planning and/or Crew/Fleet Operations Management. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and business partners.

In this role, you will partner closely with Sales Account Executives in pursuit of Jeppesen ForeFlight revenue opportunities in the commercial aviation sector. You will leverage a blend of customer understanding, technical proficiency, and effective storytelling to propel complex, strategic deals towards closure. As the technical conscience of the sales team, you will be a trusted partner to our customers, providing strong value propositions of our software solutions to address our customers challenges. Key to this position is understanding aviation customer needs, pain points, business processes and technical vision and translating these into business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales Account Executives to grow key commercial accounts.
  • Partner with Sales Account Executives on opportunity analysis, deal activities, pipeline planning and forecasting, treating our Sales team colleagues as first-among-equals of the customers we serve.
  • Identifies new strategic opportunities and generates tactical opportunities specific to Crew/Fleet Planning or Operations domains.
  • Provide enterprise-level technical expertise and coordination of Solutions Engineering activities throughout the sales cycle for selected accounts.
  • Identify Jeppesen ForeFlight solutions that meet customer goals and objectives and formulates the value-story to influence customer decision makers in order to win the technical decision for Jeppesen ForeFlight solutions.
  • Develop strong relationships with customer leadership (technical and business decision makers).
  • Prepare, present and demonstrate technical system abilities and highlight benefits of Jeppesen ForeFlight Crew Management and Network Operations products.
  • Participate in tradeshows and other company and industry events to gather customer insights.
  • Drive technical response activities for sales proposals
  • Serve as the technical voice of the customer in internal dialogues and advocate for customers whilst improving product quality.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive solutions, and technical advancements in order to serve as an informed advisor for both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train other members of the team.
  • Travel up to 40% - primarily in Asia Pacific but also global.

Basic Qualifications


  • BS/BA in an academic major relevant to the role, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or work experience in an equivalent field.
  • 7+ years working with commercial airlines operations in Crew Management, Network Scheduling or Operations Control.
  • Prior experience using Jeppesen Crew/Fleet Planning and/or Operations products or relevant experience with competitor offerings.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbally and written) in proposal preparation and presentations.
  • Ability to initiate, drive and track projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member as part of the go-to-market team.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Deep experience as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect or equivalent technical presales roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Jeppesen ForeFlight software solutions in the Crew/Fleet Planning and/or Operations is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort level engaging with key customer stakeholders from the CIO to end users.
  • Proficiency in negotiation skills to influence customer decisions and secure accounts.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in planning and implementing complex aviation solutions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry technology and standards such as SaaS, cloud technologies, API frameworks.
  • Broad understanding of IT and AI trends, emerging technologies, and IT best practices.
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently and has demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving capability, strong analytical and listening skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.
  • Ability to establish relationships quickly and coordinate across various groups and functional teams.
  • Prior experience working in aviation professionally, such as in crew management or airline operations control is strongly preferred.
