Solution Architect - Data Platform

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Solution Architect to define and govern the technical architecture for a Databricks-based data platform proof of concept. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the overall solution design, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and providing technical direction during the implementation phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the overall data platform architecture leveraging Databricks within the AWS ecosystem.

• Design and establish integration approaches for ingesting and connecting data from multiple sources such as S3, relational databases, and external APIs.

• Define the security model and implement appropriate data governance principles across the platform.

• Produce architectural diagrams, design documentation, and technical guidelines to support delivery teams.

• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineers involved in the platform build.

• Assess and recommend appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to support the solution.

• Ensure the platform design supports performance optimisation, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Review proposed technical solutions and validate implementation strategies before development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Approximately 5-8 years of experience in solution architecture, particularly in designing data platforms, ideally including Databricks implementations.

• Strong background working with AWS data services such as S3, RDS, Glue, and EMR.

• Solid understanding of Databricks capabilities and modern data lakehouse concepts, including Delta Lake.

• Experience implementing enterprise-level data security, governance, and compliance frameworks.

• Demonstrated experience designing robust and scalable data architecture solutions.
