Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (System) with strong Database Administration expertise to design, implement, maintain, and optimize database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, reliability, security, and availability while supporting business and technical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and monitor database systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor database performance and conduct performance tuning and optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service requests within agreed timelines.
- Manage database backup, restore, and recovery processes.
- Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and database automation scripts.
- Work closely with application development teams to support database changes and enhancements.
- Monitor database alerts and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Recognized degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines, with a minimum of 5 years of Database Administration experience.
- Hands-on experience in administering DB2 (Version 10 onwards), Oracle Database (Version 11 onwards), and/or PostgreSQL (Version 14 onwards), with knowledge of SQL Database Servers and MySQL as an advantage.
- Experience in database design, development, data modelling (ERWIN or equivalent), Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, SQL scripting, and troubleshooting/resolution of database issues.
- Strong experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including knowledge of indexes, index management, and database statistics.
- Experience in database backup, restore, recovery processes, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and cloud database environments.
- Experience in automation using scripts/shell scripting and working with Windows, Linux, AIX, and Solaris server environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in managing enterprise-level database environments.
- Experience supporting high-availability and business-critical production systems.
- Knowledge of EMV, PCI DSS compliance, or payment-related systems.
