Key Competencies Required for the Role
- ServiceNow Platform Expertise — Deep technical proficiency across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, App Engine, and Service Portal/Workspace modules, including advanced scripting (JavaScript, Glide API) and platform configuration.
- ITIL Framework Knowledge — Strong understanding of ITIL v3/v4 practices for Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, and Configuration Management processes.
- Solution Architecture & Design Thinking — Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable ServiceNow solutions aligned with CSDM and platform best practices.
- Integration & API Management — Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting REST/SOAP integrations, IntegrationHub spokes, orchestration, and data flows between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems.
- Security & Compliance — Knowledge of ACL design, role-based access control, data policies, secure scripting practices, and audit readiness. Ability to support compliance evidence collection.
- Platform Performance Tuning — Ability to diagnose slow transactions, optimise scripts and queries, leverage Instance Scan/HealthScan, and maintain platform health proactively.
- Release & Environment Management — Proficiency in update set management, application repository, deployment pipelines, and environment promotion across dev/test/prod instances.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills — Ability to analyse platform performance, identify root causes, and drive data-driven improvements using Platform Analytics and reporting dashboards.
- Stakeholder Communication — Explaining technical architecture and platform matters clearly to both technical teams and non-technical senior management audiences.
- Leadership & Mentoring — Ability to guide developers, conduct design reviews, drive governance standards, and raise the overall technical maturity of the ServiceNow team.
Requirements
- Minimally a Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow platform development and administration, with demonstrated expertise in ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, and App Engine.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is mandatory; Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS-ITSM, CIS-ITOM, or CIS-Discovery) or Certified Application Developer (CAD) is highly preferred.
- Experience with Now Assist / Gen AI capabilities, Virtual Agent, and Predictive Intelligence is an advantage.
- Experience with Automated Test Framework (ATF) and regression testing strategies is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Service Portal, UI Builder, and Workspace development.
- Prior experience in public sector or government IT environments would be an advantage.
