Software Engineer Intern

AskCher is an edtech startup founded by a team of students from the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) program. We're on a mission to empower parents and support children in their academic journeys through personalized learning solutions. Our current product,Pixcel, is a productivity tool designed to motivate primary school children and encourage self-directed learning in a fun and engaging way.

Role Description

As a Full-Stack Software Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the development of our EdTech mobile application, which will first be deployed as a web app. You will gain hands-on experience working with modern frameworks, programming languages, and deployment practices while collaborating closely with our product and engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end features usingReact NativeandTypeScript.
• Assist in building and integrating backend services and APIs.
• Work on web deployment of the app in the short term, with long-term mobile application rollout.
• Collaborate with the team to design scalable solutions and ensure smooth integration between front-end and back-end.
• Support database-related tasks, including design, queries, and optimization.
• Contribute to testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Learn and assist in DevOps processes, including deployment and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing aDiploma or Degreein Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in programming, with experience inReact NativeandTypeScriptpreferred.
• Familiarity withdatabase concepts(SQL/NoSQL).
• Interest or exposure toDevOpstools and practices is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
