Software Engineer, Fleet

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Fleet to build the systems that operate a growing fleet of robots reliably across global deployments.

This is not a generic backend role. You will own the software that keeps the fleet healthy at scale—how robots are provisioned, monitored, updated, and recovered in production. As we go from tens to thousands of robots across many sites, your work decides whether the fleet stays observable, controllable, and trustworthy, or becomes impossible to manage.

You'll work across real-time telemetry, distributed backend services, over-the-air updates, and operations tooling. You should be excited about high-stakes systems with tight feedback loops, where reliability and visibility directly shape how robots perform in the real world.

What you'll do

- Build the fleet management platform: provisioning, configuration, health monitoring, and lifecycle management for robots across global sites

- Develop telemetry and observability pipelines that turn live robot data, logs, and sensor streams into real-time fleet health and actionable alerts

- Build over-the-air (OTA) update and rollout systems—staged deployments, version control, rollback, and fleet-wide software/firmware distribution

- Design backend services that connect robots, operators, and cloud systems in real time and at scale

- Build tooling for fleet operations and support teams: dashboards, remote diagnostics, incident response, and intervention workflows

- Drive fleet reliability—detect, triage, and recover from failures across a distributed, production-critical system

- Work with autonomy, deployment, and operations teams so fleet data and controls feed back into product and field performance

- Help define the architecture and technical foundation of a fleet platform built for long-term scale

What we're looking for

- Strong software engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production systems

- Experience in distributed systems, backend systems, real-time systems, or cloud platforms

- Strong coding skills in Python, Go, TypeScript, C++, or similar

- Ability to design systems that are robust, scalable, and debuggable under real-world constraints

- Comfortable owning messy, cross-functional problems from architecture to execution

- High agency, strong judgment, and a bias toward building

Nice to have

- Experience with fleet management, IoT/device fleets, OTA updates, or device-cloud architectures

- Experience with telemetry, observability, monitoring, or alerting systems at scale

- Experience with robotics, edge systems, or connected hardware in the field

- Experience building data pipelines or infrastructure that turn device data into operational insight

- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven systems

- Experience working with multimodal data such as telemetry, sensor streams, and video
