Software Engineer

In this role, you will:

• Own end-to-end frontend development for Advanced Trading surfaces - designing and building elegant, high-performance user experiences across web and mobile that handle real-time data, complex order flows, and multi-asset trading pairs.

• Build pixel-perfect, responsive, and accessible interfaces using React and modern component-based frameworks, ensuring trading views are fast, reliable, and intuitive under high-throughput conditions.

• Drive frontend performance and reliability for latency-sensitive trading flows, including real-time charting, order book rendering, and trade execution feedback - delivering a world-class experience for power users.

• Partner with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to translate product and technical visions into tangible roadmaps, collaborating on feature scoping, technical trade-offs, and iterative delivery.

• Shape frontend architecture and code quality standards for the Advanced Trading platform, contributing to scalable patterns and reusable components that accelerate the team's velocity.

• Execute on cross-functional initiatives that directly impact Coinbase's core trading revenue, shipping features that serve experienced traders across global markets.

Minimum qualifications

2+ years of experience in software engineering, developing large-scale web applications and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern, component-based frameworks (e.g., React).

Proven experience building pixel-perfect, mobile-responsive, and accessible frontend experiences with modern CSS/HTML.

Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization, including experience with real-time data rendering, WebSockets, or high-frequency UI updates.

Familiarity with product and design lifecycles, with a track record of collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to ship iteratively.

You write high-quality, well-tested code and hold yourself and your teammates to high engineering standards.

Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.

Nice to haves

Experience with trading platforms, financial applications, or real-time data-intensive UIs (e.g., order books, charting libraries, streaming data).

Experience with React Native or migrating web applications to React Native.

Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
