Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and strategic Software Asset Management (SAM) to oversee and optimise our organisation's software and SaaS portfolio. This role will be responsible for managing software licenses, controlling costs, improving processes, and working closely with internal teams and vendors to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Software & License Management:
- Manage and maintain a central inventory of all software licenses and subscriptions
- Oversee allocation and usage of software across the organisation (e.g. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and audit requirements
Cost Control & Budget Management:
- Track software spending and ensure alignment with budget
- Identify unused or underutilised licenses and optimise costs
- Support forecasting and planning for software renewals
Vendor & Procurement Management:
- Liaise with vendors for renewals, purchases, and contract negotiations
- Evaluate software needs and recommend cost-effective solutions
- Support vendor consolidation initiatives where applicable
Process & Governance:
- Develop and improve processes for software requests, approvals, and usage
- Ensure all departments follow software procurement and security guidelines
- Continuously improve workflows to increase efficiency and reduce manual work
Stakeholder & Reporting:
- Work closely with IT, Finance, and business teams to understand requirements
- Prepare reports and insights on software usage, costs, and optimisation opportunities
- Support management with business cases and recommendations
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Procurement, or IT Operations with designing and implementing organisation processes
- Strong understanding of SaaS licensing models and cloud-based licensing metrics
- Experience managing software budgets, renewals, and vendor negotiations
- Strong knowledge of tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, reporting)
- Certifications: CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager), ITIL Foundation, or equivalent
- Experience working in regional or enterprise environments preferred
