About the Role

We are looking for a visionary and hands-on Software Architect to lead the technical design of our banking domain projects, with a specific focus on core banking and payment systems. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the end-to-end architecture, ensuring it is scalable, resilient, secure, and built for high performance. The ideal candidate is a master of Java-based microservices architecture and possesses a proven track record of designing complex systems in the financial services industry. You will set the technical direction and provide expert guidance to our development teams to build and enhance systems from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Design: Design and document the end-to-end architecture for banking systems, including service decomposition, communication patterns (event-driven vs. request-response), and comprehensive data management strategies.
• Technical Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices for software development. Conduct regular architectural reviews to ensure compliance, quality, and technical integrity.
• Technology Selection: Evaluate, prototype, and recommend emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools within the Java ecosystem, containerization, and cloud infrastructure to keep Techtanium at the forefront of innovation.
• Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Define and oversee the implementation of critical NFRs, including scalability, security, high availability, and observability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers to translate functional business requirements into robust technical designs. Collaborate with DevOps teams to build and maintain seamless CI/CD pipelines.
• Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical leadership to engineering teams, resolving complex blockers and ensuring the system is built for long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering. At least 4+ years in a Solution or Software Architect role specifically within the banking or financial services industry.

Required Skills

• Technical Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud). Proven experience designing and building large-scale, distributed systems using microservices architecture. Deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ). Proficiency with API gateways and service mesh concepts.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Strong knowledge of major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native development principles.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Language: Professional fluency in both English and Chinese (written and verbal) is required to support our regional expansion and stakeholder collaboration.

• System Quality & Performance: Delivery of high-availability systems with minimal downtime and optimized latency/throughput for banking transactions.
• Architectural Governance & Efficiency: Successful adoption of standardized patterns across teams and reduction of technical debt through effective review processes.
• Project Milestones: Timely delivery of architectural blueprints and successful system launches from ground-up development.
