Job Description

What The Role Is

You will be part of the AGD Finance Data & Analytics (FDA) directorate, which owns the Finance data and analytics platform (Fi@Gov) used by more than 2,000 users across government, and undertakes analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives that support decision-making across the Government Finance and Internal Audit community. You will help enhance AGD's finance data and analytics capabilities by delivering analytics and AI projects, improving finance data products, and promoting solution adoption across the public sector. Working closely with business, technology and change management stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of data-driven solutions that address business needs and support public sector finance transformation.

What You Will Be Working On

You will assist the team in the following key areas:

i. Understanding users and driving adoption

  • Engage finance and internal audit stakeholders across the public sector to understand business needs and pain points, translate these into product and analytics requirements, and support the adoption of data-driven solutions through outreach, engagement and capability-building activities.

    ii. Improving analytics products
  • Contribute to the enhancement of Fi@Gov's analytics products and capabilities by developing dashboards and reports, onboarding new datasets, strengthening data quality and pipelines, and working with technology partners to improve the reliability and usability of finance data products.

    iii. Applying AI and advanced analytics
  • Support the evaluation, prototyping and responsible application of AI and advanced analytics solutions for finance and internal audit use cases. You will help develop analytical capabilities, user resources and knowledge-sharing initiatives that strengthen the public sector's use of data and AI.

    iv. Strategic planning
  • Contribute to strategic studies, research and planning efforts that support the continued evolution of Fi@Gov and advance the Government's finance analytics and AI agenda

What We Are Looking For

Functional/Technical Competencies

  • Tertiary or professional qualifications in Accountancy, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Business, Public Policy or a related field.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience in analytics, product delivery, business analysis, stakeholder engagement, change management or related work, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with data to identify trends, assess and improve data quality, perform analysis, develop dashboards, and communicate analytical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, database concepts, statistical techniques, machine learning concepts, and business intelligence or visualisation tools, with the ability to apply these capabilities to support business and analytical objectives.
  • Strong interest in public finance and/or internal audit, and in leveraging analytics, AI and digital solutions to address business needs and strengthen decision-making.
  • Experience in translating user requirements into product, data or platform enhancements, or supporting system implementation, testing and change adoption, would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools, prompt engineering, AI assistants or related emerging technologies would be advantageous.

  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities, drive outcomes in a dynamic environment, and continuously build knowledge in finance, analytics, AI and related technologies.
  • Able to work effectively within governed environments while adapting to evolving requirements, maintaining high standards of quality, and demonstrating attention to detail in delivering outcomes.
