Reliability Engineer – Electronic Trading - Global HFT firm - Singapore

My client is a leading global quantitative trading firm with a long track record of investing heavily in technology and engineering. The business operates across global electronic markets, combining sophisticated trading strategies with a high-performance technology platform spanning market access, data, compute and research infrastructure.

They are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join their Singapore team, taking ownership of critical production trading infrastructure and working closely with traders, engineers, exchanges and brokers.

This is a highly technical production engineering position rather than a traditional application-support role. It offers exposure to electronic trading systems, market data, Linux, networking and automation, alongside the opportunity to contribute directly to how the firm's production environment is designed and improved.

The Role

You will be responsible for the reliability and operation of business-critical electronic trading systems across global markets. Responsibilities include:

• Managing production Order Management Systems and Market Data Delivery Systems connecting to major electronic exchanges and multiple asset classes.
• Working closely with trading teams, risk, business management and compliance, understanding their requirements and coordinating the implementation of appropriate production solutions.
• Troubleshooting complex production issues and providing L1/L2 support across trading systems.
• Using Python and other scripting/automation technologies to improve reliability, reduce manual intervention and develop increasingly self-correcting systems.
• Monitoring the health and performance of production environments and proactively identifying potential problems.
• Working with Core Engineering teams on the architecture and development of production and support infrastructure.
• Acting as a primary technical contact for exchanges and brokers.
• Participating in periodic after-hours coverage for critical production systems.

What They Are Looking For

• 3+ years experience within financial markets, ideally supporting electronic trading or similarly demanding real-time systems.
• Strong Python scripting/automation skills; Bash, Shell, Perl or similar scripting experience is also valuable.
• Excellent Linux knowledge, ideally extending beyond administration into areas such as the kernel, scheduling and performance tuning.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs and multicast.
• Experience with databases such as SQL and MongoDB.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose difficult production issues under time pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical teams and front-office trading users.

Experience with OMS, market data, exchange connectivity or high-performance trading infrastructure would be particularly valuable.
