Job Description

We are currently seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our Global Legal function on a full-time, permanent basis from August 2026, leading SHL's APAC region. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role offers the opportunity to work across a dynamic legal landscape including Commercial Contracts, IT/IP, AI and Data Protection.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit legal team, advising on challenging, strategically important deals with a wide range of clients including start-ups, blue chips, financial institutions and internationally based household names, within a supportive and collegiate environment.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Acting as lead legal resource for SHL products and services across APAC, providing high quality, commercial, solutions-focused, pragmatic advice to SHL commercial teams (engaging local, external counsel as required).
  • Reviewing and negotiating Terms & Conditions, MSAs, SaaS Agreements, RFPs and other types of agreements, providing advice and solutions in relation to a wide range of related issues.
  • Data Protection contractual negotiations, including reviews of data processing agreements and supporting data privacy compliance projects across the business.
  • Assisting with legal training and development as identified to support the SHL business and the team, including providing support and guidance to junior legal team members.
  • Working with external counsel, sales teams and the SHL finance team to deal with debt collection or any question about debt.
  • Contributing to ad hoc projects as required.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2:1 degree or equivalent, ideally law, computer science, psychology or business-related field
  • Qualified lawyer with 3+ years PQE, preferably both in-house and private practice experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a Contract/Commercial role, with good understanding of Data Protection and AI laws, related processes, policies and contractual implications
  • Knowledge and understanding of company and commercial law and practices
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of a business
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of work under time constraints
