Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Plan, manage, and oversee ship repair, conversion, or newbuild projects from contract award through delivery.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, work scopes, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project progress, costs, and risks implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of milestones and final delivery.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the main liaison between shipowners, technical superintendents, class societies, flag authorities, and shipyard departments.
  • Coordinate work with engineering, production, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and subcontractors.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and daily coordination discussions.

Cost & Contract Management

  • Control project costs and manage variations, change orders, and claims.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices related to the project.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with contract terms and specifications.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with classification society rules, flag state requirements, and applicable marine regulations.
  • Enforce shipyard HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure quality standards are met through inspections, testing, and documentation.

Risk & Problem Resolution

  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Resolve technical, schedule, and operational issues efficiently.
  • Manage unexpected findings common in ship repair projects.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to management and clients.
  • Ensure proper project documentation, including drawings, certificates, test reports, and handover dossiers.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Past proven experience of at least 10 years in the industry.
  • Solid cost control and scheduling expertise.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools and MS Office.
