Shipping Operations Executive (Dry Bulk)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping Operations Executive to join a dynamic team managing a fleet of dry bulk vessels trading worldwide. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in bulk shipping operations, preferably on the owners or operators desk, and a strong understanding of voyage execution, documentation, and post-fixture coordination.
This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to end-to-end vessel operations, commercial decision-making, and direct liaison with charterers, agents, and masters.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily voyage operations for owned and time-chartered bulk carriers.
- Coordinate with ship masters, charterers, brokers, agents, and bunker suppliers to ensure smooth voyage execution.
- Monitor vessel performance, port rotations, laytime, demurrage, and operational costs.
- Prepare and review voyage instructions, cargo documentation, and port clearances.
- Track and report vessel positions, bunker consumption, and voyage results.
- Handle laytime calculations and assist with claims and post-fixture documentation.
- Support the commercial team with performance analysis and voyage optimisation.
- Maintain accurate operational records and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, or related discipline.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in dry bulk operations on the owners/operators desk.
- Strong knowledge of voyage and time charter party terms, laytime and demurrage.
- Familiarity with commercial shipping systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
- Exposure to Supramax, Panamax, or Handymax segments.
- Experience with claims handling, voyage estimation tools, or bunker planning.
- Proactive attitude with an interest in growing into a commercial or chartering function.
Location & Reporting
- Based in Singapore.
- Reports to the Operations Manager / Senior Operator.
