Regularly go on board container and bulk carrier vessels to carry out inspections, measurements, and repair work. Up to 80% of your working week may be spent on board vessels. Weekend work will be required.
Regularly travel to ports and shipyards in Singapore as well as anchorages in Singapore waters to carry out inspections, measurements and repair work. Up to 80% of your working week may be spent at ports, shipyards and anchorages. Weekend work will be required.
Manage and supervise a team of welders, machinists, fitters, technicians and other repair workers both onboard vessels and in the company workshop
Manage fabrication, welding, and balancing of vessel spare parts and components in the company workshop
Effectively manage multiple repair jobs on different vessels simultaneously
Plan manpower, materials, and work schedules for repair jobs
Be responsible for timely delivery of repair jobs
Provide cost estimates for repair enquiries
Understand technical drawings
Prepare inspection, technical, and service reports
Create worklists, delivery orders, and other documentation
Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and request price quotations for vessel spare parts, main engine components and tools
Develop strong working relationships with ship captains, chief engineers, and crew
Develop effective working relationships with various teams within the company
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering
3 to 5 years of experience in a similar capacity at a ship repair company, shipyard, ship owner company, or ship management company
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Fluent in English
Must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident (PR)
